a new way of travelling

track, metro, jpo nagar, bangalore may 2012
if we talk about traveling and bangalore i can just soigh and moan. at the same time.

bangalore has 7 million people. a fairly mall city for indian cities, but still. and for whatever reasons it feels big. incredible big.

people say there s no center.  people say it is the huge amount of people who came in in the last 10 years.

i do not care. moaning as we learned is out, action is in.

one action is the metro. the metro in bangalore. one way. from the one end to the other end. cut through, on the way mg road of course. that is the first metro. should be more. different wyas to go through the city. at the moment just this one.

it took me  half an hour to walk there. quite a while.  i think. from the lake , where i was to the subway or metro. plus also then the miss guidance of people.

this metro makes me think. how did the metro start in london, new york, in the rest of the world? the same?

It seems it takes them forever, the left over of the building work on the road, next to them high wood walls to keep the neighboring people rest in peace. a lot of dirt.

but it is also overland. huge. impressive. going up in the air and entering in a huge station. empty station. midday and empty.

i am wondering why. because of its newness, because of its farness.

maybe because of the rules. one of them:

The Bangalore Metro Rail (Carriage and Ticket) Rules 2011 limit the weight of personal baggage to 15 kg. Rule 3 says: “No person shall, while traveling in metro railway, carry with him any goods other than a small baggage containing personal belongings not exceeding 60cm x 45cm x 25cm in size and 15kg in weight, except with the prior approval of the metro railway administration.”

ok at least now no problem. otherwise will be interesting cause people carry here things. i carry things, lugguage, shopping from mg road, camera equipment, going to the airport.

metro is not a new concept, but anew one in india. delhi has a fantastic one, mumbai a pretentious. if you can count railway along with that. calcotta had also one. sorry completely forgot about it. so sorry. so bangalore is a big behind, plus overland instead of underground. it took them almost 2 decades to get there. 2006 finally approved.
